Career and work

Gomez rose to prominence as a Disney Channel actress and later built careers in music, film and television. She stars in and executive produces Only Murders in the Building and appeared in the film Emilia Pérez. She is also the founder of Rare Beauty. [10][9][8][7]

What has been publicly discussed

  • In April 2020, Gomez publicly said that she had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder after receiving care at McLean Hospital. She said that learning more about the diagnosis made her less afraid of it. [1]
  • Gomez has said that she was misdiagnosed before receiving the bipolar diagnosis. She tried multiple therapists and went to four treatment centres, experiences she says helped her better understand her condition. [3]
  • Gomez has described highs and lows that could last weeks or months. At times, she went days with very little or no sleep and became convinced that she needed to buy cars for everyone she knew. [4]
